Lesson 4 of 4

Write documents together in Office

Real documents, spreadsheets and presentations, edited with other people at the same time.

Hitaji Office gives you four things: Hitaji Docs for documents, Hitaji Sheets for spreadsheets, Hitaji Slides for presentations, and Hitaji Forms for collecting answers.

The first three are proper Word, Excel and PowerPoint compatible editors — real files, not a simplified imitation. Existing .docx, .xlsx and .pptx files open and edit in place.

Making one

Open Office, choose the product, and press the new-document button. Or create it from Drive's New menu, which puts it exactly where you want it from the start.

Choose where it lives — your personal Drive or your organisation — before you start writing. Moving it later is possible but changes who can reach it.

Editing together

Several people can be in the same document at once. Share it exactly as you would any other file in Drive: viewer or editor, person by person.

Documents keep version history, and anyone with edit access can restore an earlier one from the document menu.

Note that simultaneous editing of personal documents uses a limited number of concurrent slots on your plan. Organisation documents and read-only viewing do not consume them, so a document being read by twenty people costs nothing.

Worth remembering

  • Docs, Sheets and Slides are Word/Excel/PowerPoint compatible — real files.
  • Decide personal or organisation before you start; it decides who can reach it.
  • Viewing never consumes a co-editing slot, only simultaneous editing of personal documents.
