Lesson 1 of 3

Create your first task

Get one real piece of work out of your head and into Hitaji.

A task is the smallest unit of work in Hitaji. Everything else — your day, your goals, your timesheet — is built out of them, so this is the place to start.

Make one now

  1. Open Work Center from the sidebar or the app launcher.
  2. Press New in the top right, then choose Create Task.
  3. First you are asked where the task belongs — pick a workspace. If you only have a personal one, it is already chosen.
  4. Now the details. The only thing you must fill in is the title, under What needs to be done?
  5. Press Create.

That is a complete task. Everything else on that form is optional, and you can add it later.

The fields worth using early

Do not fill in all of them. Three earn their keep from day one:

  • Priority — Urgent, High, Normal or Low. This is what sorts your day later, so it is worth setting honestly.
  • Assignee — leave it as yourself for personal work. On a shared workspace this is who is expected to do it.
  • Estimated Time — a rough guess is fine. It is what later tells you whether you are consistently underestimating.

If you are capturing several things at once, use Save & New instead of Create — it saves the task and leaves the form open.

Worth remembering

  • A title is the only required field — capture first, tidy up later.
  • Priority is what your day gets sorted by, so set it honestly.
  • Save & New keeps the form open when you are emptying your head.
