What Hitaji Office actually gives you
Four products, real file compatibility, and where documents live.
Hitaji Office is four products, each with a card on the Office hub and an Open action:
- Hitaji Docs — Word documents.
- Hitaji Sheets — spreadsheets.
- Hitaji Slides — presentations.
- Hitaji Forms — surveys and data collection.
These are real editors
The first three are genuinely Word, Excel and PowerPoint compatible. This is the point people usually need convincing of, so it is worth being blunt: a .docx you already have opens and edits in place, keeping its formatting. It is not converted into a simplified imitation and it does not come back mangled.
Documents open in the editor when they are one of the recognised office types — doc, docx, docm, dot, dotx, odt and rtf for text; xls, xlsx, xlsm, xlsb, csv and ods for spreadsheets; ppt, pptx, ppsx, pps and odp for presentations.
Anything else opens in the normal file viewer instead. A PDF, an image or a zip archive is something to look at, not something to edit, so it behaves the way it does anywhere else in Hitaji.
Personal or organisation
Every product home has a scope selector, and it is the first thing to check. A document can live in your personal My Drive or in your organisation, and which one you chose decides who can ever reach it. Personal is right for a draft; organisation is right for anything a colleague will need after you are on leave.
The scope also affects co-editing, which is covered later in this course.
Getting around a product home
Each home gives you a search box (Search docs…), a Recently opened section, and a button to start something new — New document, New spreadsheet or New presentation depending on where you are.
Recently opened is the one to build a habit around. Most of the time you are returning to something from this week, and it is faster than remembering which folder you filed it in.
Worth remembering
- Docs, Sheets and Slides are properly Word, Excel and PowerPoint compatible.
- Files that are not office documents open in the file viewer instead.
- Check the scope selector — personal and organisation documents reach different people.
