Finding a file fast

The file you want is usually three seconds away if you use the right handle, and several minutes away if you go clicking through folders.

Smart views

The left rail has a Smart views section: From Hitaji Chat, From Notes, From Tasks and From Calls. These gather files by where they arrived from rather than where they were filed.

They solve a common problem. You remember somebody sent you the file in a conversation, but not what it was called. From Hitaji Chat is far quicker than scrolling back through it.

Filtering by type

The type filter starts at All types and offers Documents, Spreadsheets, Presentations, PDFs, Images, Videos, Audio, Archives and Code. “It was a spreadsheet” removes most of the noise immediately.

One thing to know: filtering by type hides folders. That is correct, since a folder is not a document, but it can look alarming the first time. Set the filter back to All types and they reappear.

Sorting

In grid view you sort by Name (A–Z), Name (Z–A), Last modified, Oldest modified, Largest first or Smallest first. In list view you sort by clicking the Name, Size and Modified column headers instead.

Last modified is the everyday choice. Largest first is the one to remember when space is tight — it puts the handful of files actually consuming your allowance at the top.

Search and Suggested

Search reads Search My Drive or Search Organisation, so you always know which pool you are searching. Switch scope in the left rail if it is the wrong one.

At the home of each scope, a Suggested section shows files you opened recently. It hides while you are searching, filtering or inside a folder, so if it has vanished you are simply not at the top level any more.
