What is a pledge?
Personal FinanceA pledge is money you have committed to give — to a church, a fundraiser, a family contribution — usually with a date attached and often paid off a little at a time.
It is tracked separately from ordinary spending because a promise is not a payment: you want to see what you have committed to, what you have paid so far, and what is still outstanding.
Each payment you record moves it along; the pledge closes when the full amount has been given.
