What is a loan record?
Personal FinanceA loan record tracks money that has changed hands and is expected back — in either direction.
Lent means you gave it and are owed it; it counts towards what you own. Borrowed means you received it and owe it; it counts against you. The direction is the first thing you choose, and it is what decides which side of your net worth the loan lands on.
Repayments are logged against the record as they happen, so the outstanding balance is always what is genuinely still owed.
