Lesson 3 of 3

Find anything, and get help, with one shortcut

The command palette is the fastest route to any page, any record, and any answer.

Two shortcuts do most of the navigating in Hitaji. They are the single highest-value thing on this page.

  • ⌘K (or Ctrl+K) opens search — features, tasks, projects, workspaces.
  • ⌘/ (or Ctrl+/) opens the same box already in How do I…? mode, searching Academy answers.

You can switch between the two modes without retyping — the box keeps whatever you have entered.

Getting an answer without leaving the page

Press ⌘/ and ask in plain words. Answers open in a panel over whatever you were doing, so you can read the steps and act on them without losing your place.

You do not have to remember the shortcut, either: when you type something that reads like a question into ordinary search, matching answers are offered underneath the normal results.

Shortcuts and recents

The palette keeps your recent destinations, and a set of shortcuts you can customise. Once configured, hold Alt (or ) with a number key to jump straight to one.

Notifications

Everything that wants your attention collects in Notifications, grouped by Today, Yesterday, This Week and Earlier. Clicking one marks it read and takes you to the thing it is about.

If several organisations send you notifications, the source filter separates them. And when it has got away from you, Mark All Read is not cheating.

Worth remembering

  • ⌘K searches the product; ⌘/ searches Academy answers.
  • Answers open in a panel without losing your place.
  • Typing a question into normal search surfaces answers automatically.
