Talk to people in Hitaji Chat

Chat separates Organization conversations from Personal ones, with a toggle at the top of the list. Unread counts show on whichever side you are not looking at.

Three kinds of conversation

Press + to start one and pick a tab:

• Direct Message — one person.
• Group Chat — several people. If a group with exactly those members already exists, Hitaji tells you before you make a second one.
• Channel — a named, ongoing place for a topic. Organisation only, and can be public to the organisation or invite-only.

Turning a message into work

This is the part most people never find. Hover a message and open its More menu: you can create a task, an event, an appointment or a meeting directly from it, keeping the link back to the conversation.

The same menu has Reply privately, Forward, Pin and Remind me — that last one nudges you about a message later without anyone else seeing.

Editing has a deadline

You can edit or delete your own messages for 30 minutes after sending. After that they stand. Notes to yourself are exempt.

Edited messages are marked, so a correction is visible as a correction.

Sending more than text

Attach up to 12 files to one message. You can also record a voice note or your screen, and schedule a message to send later.

Files shared here are the one kind that does not count against your personal storage — so sharing freely in chat costs you nothing.

Big groups behave differently

Very large groups turn some features off deliberately: broadcast-size groups disable reactions, typing indicators and read receipts, and only admins can post. This keeps a group of thousands usable rather than a wall of noise.
