The useful reading is the pattern, not the individual miss. Everyone is wrong about single tasks; being wrong in the same direction every time is the thing worth knowing, because it is what makes every plan you write optimistic by the same margin.
It only works if you estimate before starting and track time as you go. Estimates written afterwards measure nothing.
