What is a time entry?

A time entry is one stretch of time recorded against one task — either by running a timer or by typing in hours you already worked.

Entries are the raw material for everything downstream: your timesheet, the reports, billing, and in some organisations pay. That is why only one timer runs at a time, and why an entry can be added after the fact but not rewritten indefinitely.
