Capture everything in To Dos
A single box for anything on your mind, so nothing is held in your head.
Not everything that occurs to you deserves a task with a priority and a due date. Most of it just needs to stop taking up room in your head.
To Dos is the place for that. One box, one line, no form.
How it works
- Open To Dos from the sidebar.
- Type into the capture box — it prompts you to capture a thought, idea, or to do.
- Press Enter. It is saved.
No workspace, no priority, no date. That is the point: anything that makes you stop and think is something you will avoid using when you are busy, which is exactly when you need it.
Turning one into real work
When an item turns out to matter, promote it to a task. Hitaji keeps the link, adding a note on the new task recording that it came from a to do and who promoted it — so you can always trace where a piece of work came from.
The rest you tick off or leave. A to do you never promote is not a failure; it is a thought you were right not to act on.
Worth remembering
- Capture is one line and Enter — deliberately no form.
- Promote a to do to a task when it turns out to matter; the link is kept.
- Most to dos should never become tasks.
